BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

OPENING STATEMENTS
Jane Crowley told the Board the Household Hazardous Products Collection was held September 19, 2009 by the town of Orleans and was available to the Eastham residents. On July 18, 2009 the town of Eastham had their collection day which was opened to the residents of Orleans. The towns of Eastham and Orleans Hazardous products collections is a yearly event.
OTHER /BUSINESS
Beanstock Roasters Update on Relocation
The owners of the Beanstock Roasters came before the Board to update the reason for the delay to relocate to 275 Holmes Road. The state has to approve
the new roaster once this is done the move will take place. The Board understood the problem but reaffirmed that the company must relocate by October 1, 2009. The extension request to extend the moving schedule was approved at the BOH Meeting August 27, 2009 with the stipulation October 1, 2009 would be the moving date.
Dr. Stan Holt made the motion to ease operation at 180 Brackett Road by October1, 2009.
Dr. James Taylor seconded the motion.

MASS PESTICIDE BOARD PROCESS
Bill Clark - Cape Cod Extension Service explain the process for approving pesticides/herbicides. Mr. Clark has been on the MA. Board of Pesticides for 5 years. He informed the Board of Health that the pesticide Licensing and Certification program conducts licensing recertification and auditing of pesticide applicators and a exam must be taken in order to become a pesticide applicator. The applicator must renew the license each year.
Discussion Pesticide/Herbicide Regulations
Town of Wendell vs. Attorney General
There was a discussion concerning the need to eliminate the threat
of herbicide and contamination by passing law(s) to prohibit or limit the use of such chemicals.
The Board received a copy of the decision concerning the Town of Wendell vs Attorney General. It was determined that a comprehensive regulation governing the use of pesticides, adopted by the board of health in the town of Wendell was in excess of the board’s authority and thus invalid. More information concerning control of pesticides is available on line.
FLU CLINIC UPDATES -NAUSET HIGH SCHOOL
The flu clinic at the high school may be delayed due to need for more vaccine.
H1N1 UPDATES
The Federal Government will be distributing the HINI vaccine as of now delivery has not been made to the State.
